Kildare claims shield

12 Mar, 2010 08:31 AM
ARARAT - The Ararat Solar Olympic Pool was awash with colour for Marian College's annual swimming carnival with students decked out in their house colours for the occasion.

The festivities kicked off with the traditional entrance of the year 12 students in their creative costumes, with races beginning soon after.

Kildare and Delaney were neck and neck throughout the afternoon, inspiring swimmers to go the extra mile for their house.

Towards the end of the day, students were anxiously awaiting the final result but were forced to wait until the following day to find out.

Kildare house members were elated to discover their team had won with a total of 914.

The year level champions were also announced, going to Jayden Dignan and Kearnie Warren (junior), Alex Malligan and Zoe Eastick (intermediate) and Cameron Kimber and Abbey Main (senior).

Two major records were broken for the day, by the Kildare junior boys, in the 14 year 4x50m freestyle relay and the 15 year 4x50m freestyle relay.
