ARARAT - Chalambar bowler Grant Seeary is off to Hong Kong in November to compete in one of the biggest world bowls events.
Seeary will be pulling on an Australian guernsey to contest two competitions over a fortnight. He will contest the world singles Champion of Champions event before teaming up with a fellow national champion to contest the mixed pairs Golden Jubilee Classic.
In order to reach the world champion competition, Seeary contested the Australian Champion of Champions event held in Launceston, Tasmania.
The Chalambar and Victorian title-winner defeated eight state and territory champions from around Australia to take home national Champion of Champions honours in November last year.
Seeary has continued to play socially at Chalambar and Stawell Bowling Clubs in the lead up to the world contest.
As for his chances over in Hong Kong, Seeary, who was 'thrilled just to win Chalambar', is modest.
"Anyone could sort of beat anyone (in bowls)," he said.
"I'll just go and enjoy myself."
The Stawell resident will be cheered on by his wife and children and is looking forward to visiting Hong Kong.
"I've never been out of Australia," he said.
"My first time on a plane was to Tassie."
The world singles Champion of Champions title will run from November 6-13. The Golden Jubilee Classic begins the next day and runs until November 20.
