ARARAT - Wimmera Racing will hold its last meeting of the month at Ararat on Monday.
The feature event of the nine card meeting, the Howden Toyota 0-72 Handicap over 1100 metres, sees Stawell-trained galloper Sigidas jump from barrier three.
Trained by Paul Jones, the four year-old mare has been a model of consistency of late with a victory at Mildura spliting placings at Kyneton and Stawell. Sigidas won her maiden at Ararat on May 5 in 2008 before running second at the same venue following a 14 week spell, showing her liking for the track.
Monday's race features a number of winning chances, including topweight Confidence Reef, the Greg Baker-trained Tuscan Prince, which won his last race at Ararat in September 2007, and the Daryl Dodson-trained Phantom Flight. The six year-old gelding finished third at his last start at Stawell, narrowly behind winner Johnny Fiasco and second placed Sigidas. Avelon Royale has won at both Mornington and Seymour this preparation as is also amongst the chances.
The first race jumps at 11.42am, with the Howden Toyota 0-72 Handicap run at 2.05pm.
