Richardson runs away with the spoon

03 Nov, 2009 09:21 AM
ARARAT - Jane Richardson was awarded the Women's Golf Ballarat District's Spoon at the WGBD's annual meeting at Midlands Golf Club.

Richardson finished ahead of all the other lady members of clubs in the Ballarat District over the winter golf season.

This is a huge achievement for Richardson, who received the award from Captain Marie Dalgleish last Wednesday after returning from holidays.

Thirty-six ladies enjoyed the glorious sunshine as they took part in the scheduled foursomes partner event at Chalambar Golf Club.

Joy Cronin and Trisha Heard were on fire, scoring an impressive 87-20.5-66.5 to take out the win over Nola Mahoney and Nola Pugh on 91-22-69.

Other top performers on the day were Mardi McOwen and Lynne Wilson (101/31/70), Teresa Gemmola and Marg Peoples (108-37.5-70.5), Lyn Faneco and Jane Richardson (100/28/72) and Marg Brehaut and Lyn Thomas (100/28/72).

The event was sponsored by Shirley Park.

Mardi McOwen took out Monday's 9-hole stableford competition on 21 points. Sally Phillip took runner up honours with 18 points, while nearest the pins was awarded to Lyn Faneco on the sixth hole.

The scheduled stroke event and first round of the Summer Brooch will take place tomorrow from 9.30am.

There will be a short committee meeting at the completion of play.
