ARARAT - Despite being marred by wet weather, this year's Ararat Legacy Crystal Golf Day at Chalambar Golf Club was enjoyed by all.
The annual event was held on Monday and attracted golfers from as far as Ballarat and New South Wales.
Organisers were delighted to receive 70 entries in the lead-up to the day, but rain caused more than 20 players to withdraw on Monday morning.
Legacy president Terry Hinch said the weather had a significant impact on fundraising efforts.
Last year's Legacy Golf Day raised over $2,500, while this week's event saw $1,200 donated to the organisation.
''It was disappointing that it rained but you can't plan the weather,'' Mr Hinch said.
Those who dared to brave the showers enjoyed an entertaining day on the course and many walked away with some fabulous prizes.
Steve O'Connell had plenty to celebrate after taking out the Lin Harricks memorial trophy for the player with the best scratch score.
Arthur Mahney also performed well in the wet to win the Kevin Lewin memorial shield after recording the top handicap score.
Judy Lewin was the best of the ladies and took out the handicap prize, a trophy donated by Pegis Ararat/Right Next Door.
The A grade handicap was won by Bruce Toddun, B grade by Tony Rees and C grade by Trent Anglin.
Prizes were also awarded for the longest drive and nearest the pins.
All players enjoyed a barbecue lunch on the day.
