MDFL - Former North Ballarat Rebels' player Luke Fisher has capped of a brilliant year by taking out SMW Rovers' best and fairest award.

Fisher was favourite to claim the accolade after being presented with the 2009 WJ Lewis Medal at the Mininera and District Football League's presentation evening.

The 18-year-old onballer played a pivotal role for the Bulldogs this season and his ability to kick goals as a midfielder made him a valuable asset.

Fisher recorded a convincing win over runner-up Michael Loader.

The ever-reliable Loader had another consistent year and polled 12 votes in the league best and fairest.

Tom Madden was awarded the Marcus Davidson Memorial Trophy after being voted as the club's most determined player.

Andrew Toan received the coach's award from club leader Lachlan Day.

The reserves' vote count saw Nicholas Byrne and Craig McLeod tie for top honours. The two players could not be separated, with both enjoying spectacular seasons. Jason Porter received the runner-up trophy.

Steven Lock was voted as the reserve's best first year player, while the league's leading goal kicker Adam Griffin was judged most consistent. The most determined player award was taken out by Rohan Davine, with Scott Bradshaw receiving the coach's award.

Jacob Johnson took home the under 16 best and fairest award from Matthew Mulcahy.
