ARARAT - Ararat basketballer Cortney Williamson has been selected as part of the All Star team to represent Australia in the USA.
Cortney's impressive performance in the School Sport Australia basketball championships in August helped secure her position on the elite squad.
A talented point guard, Cortney helped lead the Victorian team to overall victory at the Newcastle five-day event.
The Australian schoolgirl basketball team will tour North Carolina in December this year.
This will be Cortney's second trip to the USA after representing Country Victoria with her twin sister Jessica in the National Intensive Training Centre Program.
The NITCP is a program designed to identify and develop outstanding basketball talent between the ages of 14 and 17, using rigorous training programs to help them compete successfully at both national and international level.
This year's tour will be competition-based rather than focusing on training.
Cortney said she was looking forward to visiting the USA again.
''We fly out on December 6 and we're over there for three weeks,'' she said.
''I'm very excited about the trip, it's come around very quickly.
''It's going to be a lot of fun, and it's really a great way to meet new people, make new friends and see a bit of the world.''
