REGION - Moyston Willaura Football Netball Club and Wickliffe Lake Bolac Football Club are among 1280 sports and community clubs from across Australia, selected to receive new equipment and materials through the 2008 Telstra Assistance Fund.
The Telstra Assistance Fund has contributed over $6 million worth of sporting equipment to over 5000 sports and community clubs nationally in the past six years.
Both clubs will be provided with essential equipment and materials such as footballs, tackle bags, goal post pads and water bottles.
Launched in June with the support of some of Australia's top athletes, the Telstra Assistance Fund provides equipment to swimming, football (soccer), rugby league, AFL and surf life saving community clubs.
Telstra area general manager Bill Mundy said the company was proud to continue to support grassroots and community clubs in Ararat.
"The Telstra Assistance Fund aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage participation in sport. I am delighted that Moyston Willaura Football Netball Club and Wickliffe Lake Bolac Football Club will benefit from the program,'' Mundy said.
"Grassroots clubs are the backbone of local communities.
"The support these clubs receive through initiatives such as the Telstra Assistance Fund helps them to continue the important role they play.''
