ARARAT - The Ararat Bowling Club was a sea of pink when the Ararat Breast Cancer Support Group hosted its annual morning tea in support of Pink Ribbon Day.
Over 120 people attended the event, raising a total of $564 from the sale of raffle tickets and pink ribbons.
East Grampians Health Service also got involved in the fundraiser, holding a special pink theme morning tea for staff.
Breast care nurse Sue Cashin said it was great to see so many people supporting the event.
''It was a really fantastic day,'' she said.
''We talked about prevention and the women were all given health information bags.''
Co-ordinated by Bev Walker and Kaye Fox, the Ararat Breast Cancer Support Group offers support to women with breast cancer through meetings and practical assistance.
During last Monday's event, Ms Fox spoke about the value of the group, which welcomes new members.
The group meets on the first Thursday of every month from 10am to 12pm at the Alexandra Croquet Club.
Anyone wishing to become involved in the group can contact Kaye on 5352 1462.
Another highlight of the morning tea was an address from McGrath Foundation breast care nurse Fiona Reeves.
Ms Reeves talked about cancer prevention and also provided information for younger women.
''It was great to have Fiona's support. She helps with providing vital networking and resources,'' Ms Cashin said.
Ms Cashin also wishes to advise the community that East Grampians Health Service runs free breast screening buses to Ballarat.
