Car boot sale for kids appeal

05 Feb, 2010 07:58 AM
ARARAT - Ararat Fire Brigade will host a car boot sale later this month to help raise funds for the 2010 Royal Children's Hospital Appeal.

The sale will be held on the grassed area next to Alexandra Hall on Saturday, February 27 between 9am and 2.30pm.

Event co-ordinator, Frank Van Boxtel is urging the Ararat community to support the sale.

''It is for a great cause and we hope to see as many people there as possible,'' he said.

''Community support would be greatly appreciated.''

Residents will have the opportunity to get involved by purchasing a site for the day.

The cost of a site is $10 which will allow the purchaser to sell items from their car boot or trailer.

Residents can also donate items to the Royal Children's Hospital Appeal by contacting Mr Van Boxtel.

Entry to the car boot sale will be via voluntary gold coin donation, with all proceeds going directly to the appeal.

There will also be a sausage sizzle on the day.

If successful, Mr Van Boxtel said the Ararat Fire Brigade would look at hosting a car boot sale on an annual basis.

''We will see how it goes, but we would really like to have one every year,'' he said.

''We are also thinking about having a trash and treasure market to raise more money.''

To donate to the Royal Children's Hospital Appeal or to book a site at the car boot sale contact Frank Logan on 0427 051 980 or 5352 2419.
