ARARAT - Ararat Police arrested an Ararat man last Friday after finding cannabis plants and dried cannabis on his property.
Police executed a drug search warrant on the property in Grano Street, where they located a quantity of mature, well established cannabis plants in different stages of growth.
Some of the plants were over 1.5 metres (five feet) tall and some were found hanging up to dry. Police also located a substantial quantity of dried cannabis.
A 52 year old Ararat man was arrested at the premises. He has been interviewed and charged with cultivating narcotic plant, possession and use of cannabis and will appear at the Ararat Magistrates' Court on May 26.
"Community perceptions of public safety are important to us and we continue to target these problems," Sergeant Mick Logan said.
"The success of the police investigation was greatly enhanced by the input of information from members of the public.
